Launching to the public in November 2011, StyleRocks® is a world first, create-your-own jewellery website which will absolutely revolutionise the jewellery industry. “I felt it was important to start StyleRocks® because I wanted to be able to create jewellery exactly as I wanted it. When purchasing jewellery in-store or online, I always found myself wanting to customise it - change the metal or the gemstones - to make it right for me. I have worked with jewellers previously in designing my own pieces but it’s a time-consuming and expensive process. When it came to choosing jewellery as gifts, I wanted to have the ability to create something that completely encapsulated the relationship between me and my special gift recipient. Why should we settle for something that is mass-produced, or simply acceptable; one should be thrilled that their jewellery piece is exactly right for them.”
StyleRocks® not only aims to change the Australian jewellery industry, but also to create and sustain strong international recognition and success. Ambassadors include Telstra Business Woman of the Year 2011 Jodie Fox, Director of Shoes of Prey - the company which inspired StyleRocks®. Fox says, “Jewellery is one of the most personal items we own - to be able to create exactly the right piece, expressive of the occasion and my style is a perfect fit.”
Entrepreneur, Mother and Founder of StyleRocks, Pascale Helyar-Moray, recently returned home to Australia from the UK after giving birth to her twins. Early in 2011, Pascale decided to re-evaluate her career as a financial services marketer and pursue her life-long dream of becoming a jewellery designer.
“Jewellery design has been a life-long passion of mine, so I was looking for a way to combine that passion with a career that was more conducive to motherhood. The idea of setting up my own business from home, doing something I love, seemed the best way to marry those two worlds.”
After being given the opportunity to select a gift to celebrate the birth of her twins, Pascale realised there was little avenue for personal choice in the online jewellery industry. “Being pregnant, the last thing I wanted to do was shop, so I went online and couldn’t find anything I liked in the metals I wear, or the stones I love. I didn’t have the energy or time to visit a jeweller to create something, so we left it.”
“The babies were born and some months later, after we’d relocated to Australia, I saw the Shoes of Prey website, which offers you complete customisation in designing your shoes. I thought that the ability to design your own jewellery - exactly as you want it, was exactly what I needed to create!” – ‘and so StyleRocks was born’.
